 Persbericht:

“Enologica”, the exhibition of the wines and typical food products of Emilia Romagna will take place in Bologna from 18th to 20th November 2017. As has been the case in the last few editions, again this year “Enologica”, the exhibition of the wines and typical food products of Emilia Romagna will place the Region’s wine and food in the context of its traditions, culture and identity, creating a choral, territorial and popular scenario: one that makes Emilia Romagna distinctive and unique.

The appointment, therefore, is in Bologna, from 18th to 20th November, in the very central venue of Palazzo Re Enzo. No less than 117 producers, Consortia and cooperative wineries will be present. There will also be seminars and themed tastings featuring the wines of Emilia Romagna, from the main grape varieties to some indigenous ones just waiting to be discovered, as well as the “Cooks’ Theatre”, where various chefs will tell their stories, partly through the gastronomic delicacies they will create. These will be matched with the Region’s wines, and will offer personal versions – with an eye to the future – of some of Emilia Romagna’s iconic dishes, from cappelletti to pisarei e fasò (little gnocchi and beans), from tortellini to passatelli, from the piadina to torta fritta. There will also be the awards ceremony for “Carta Canta”, the prize aimed at restaurants, wine shops, bars, agriturismi and hotels in the Region, in Italy or abroad that offer a high-quality range of wines from the Region, and “Panino d’Autore” with chef Daniele Reponi, who will make gourmet sandwiches using exclusively D.O.P. and I.G.P. products from Emilia Romagna.

«My heartfelt thanks go to all the protagonists of Enologica 2017, beginning with the Producers’ Consortia, whose contribution is always fundamental in an event like this which seeks to represent in a wide-ranging and comprehensive manner the entire Region» underlines the President of the Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna, Pierluigi Sciolette. «Ours is a united Region, in which the Enoteca Regionale helps to promote small and medium-sized producers along with the big cooperative groups and, together with the relevant institutions – beginning with the Regional government of Emilia Romagna – to face the future».

Welcoming visitors to Enologica, under the portico at the entrance, there will be a large panel (around 6 metres by 4) showing original “earth sculptures”, created by I.TER in Bologna. These are artistic/scientific representations of the principal soils in which vines are grown in Emilia Romagna and which are to be found travelling along the Via Emilia from South to North, starting therefore in the Province of Rimini and arriving in that of Piacenza (with a single small detour into the area around Ferrara). These different types of soil correspond to the seven main grape varieties of the Region, which are used to make our D.O.C. and D.O.C.G. wines: Albana and Sangiovese in Romagna, Pignoletto in the Bologna area, Fortana near Ferrara, Lambrusco in the Provinces of Modena, Reggio Emilia and Parma, Malvasia in the zones of Parma and Piacenza, and Gutturnio in the Piacenza area.  These are territories that are highly suitable for viticulture, and which for some months now have also been at the centre of a programme, beginning in the areas of Modena and Reggio Emilia and which will last for several years, to verify if in Emilia Romagna there are the conditions to obtain certification of territorial sustainability (exclusively for the wine production branch) in the areas that are delimitated by the D.O.P.s. As President Sciolette explains: «This would make us one of the first – if not the very first – in Italy to certify not a single product or a single winery, but a Regional sector as a whole. It would be a very important instrument and offer due recognition to the very many producers who have been striving for years to improve their growing techniques and to protect the environment. Besides, it could provide strong marketing leverage in both the domestic and foreign markets».

«The format of Enologica is now a well-consolidated one, resulting from the great experience of the Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna in organising and managing events at an international level» states the Director of the Enoteca Regionale, Ambrogio Manzi. «Apart from its role as an exhibition, Enologica also offers an important chance to meet for producers and members of the trade. Indeed, once again this year we are expecting lots of restaurateurs, wine merchants, journalists (both Italian and from abroad) and – obviously – plenty of wine lovers. The knowledge this last category has of our wines continues to grow: wines that are of ever-increasing quality and with a diversification of products that has no equal anywhere in Italy».

Moreover, every year, Enologica always succeeds in providing a completely original interpretation of our Region and of the world of wine. This time around, in fact, some of the protagonists of the exhibition will be fantastic creatures: in other words, the popular representations of nature, of fears, of dreams and of those things that are “inexplicable” yet familiar in human history – a patrimony of stories and traditions that has been passed down orally to the present day. As you can read in the introduction to the exhibition’s catalogue, written by the organiser of Enologica, Giorgio Melandri: “[…] We believe in recounting an “everyday” tale, full of things that are true, of people and stories. […].. The tale of wine is part and parcel of people’s daily lives, and it is our duty to leave it there. We are a Region where what is commonplace is extraordinary: where a ditch can conceal a fantastic creature, where a tree can hide a secret, and where a wine can tell many stories”.
